Children present a unique challenge and we love it because they are special to us.
Working with children who have lost arms, legs or both either due to emergency amputations or at birth, our goal is always to ensure that your child gets a limb that allows them to just be a kid, reducing the impact of amputation on their everyday life.
Once a child is able to pull up to stand, which typically happens around 9-12 months, it’s best to begin using a prosthetic as soon as possible so they develop their sense of self and physically develop from sitting to standing, running and more just like every other kid.
Children naturally grow rapidly and will require change of sockets and various adjustments to keep the prosthesis inline with their evolving physical needs – we will be readily available every step of the way.
We design pediatric prosthetics that stand up to the highly physical lifestyles of children such as swimming or running, balancing optimal function and minimal weight.
If you’re a parent of a child or a sponsor in need to get the best prosthetic care for your child, speak to our pediatric specialist now.
